Follow the guide below to find out how to play Pick 3 in Louisiana. It is a simple game which requires you to choose three numbers between 0 and 9, but there are also a few other selections to make.
Choose your own numbers or get a Quick Pick to receive three random numbers from 0 to 9. Each number is drawn from a separate field of 0 to 9, so the same digit can appear multiple times.
Play a Straight, Box, Straight/Box or Combo. The way you play determines you can win prizes and what payout is available to you.
You can wager $0.50, $1 or $5. The more you wager, the more you can win. Straight/Box wagers can only be played for $1 or $5, while Combo tickets cost 3 or 6 times the amount of a single play.
Enter your numbers into just the next draw, or several consecutive drawings. You can play up to 14 draws in a row.
Make sure to buy your tickets before the cut-off time of 9:30 p.m., ahead of the draw just before 10:00 p.m. If you have a favorite set of numbers, you can save time by asking for a ‘Replay’ and handing in an old ticket. All the selections from the previous entry - numbers, play type, number of drawings, wager amount - will be the same.
In Louisiana, you can also play Pick 3 alongside other draw-style games by bundling them together in a single purchase. For $9, you receive a $1 Straight play for Pick 3, plus entries for Lotto, Easy 5, Powerball, Mega Millions, Pick 4 and Pick 5.
Each of the four play types offers something different, depending on whether you want to aim for the biggest possible prize, get the best odds, or have something in-between.
Pick any three-digit number combination. You are predicting the winning numbers in the order you think they will appear.
Choose the three numbers you think will be drawn. The order they are selected does not matter.
With this type of wager, half your money goes on a Straight and half on a Box, so you can win for matching the three digits exactly and/or in any order.
A Combo wager encompasses every possible number combination of your chosen digits. Each one is entered as a separate Straight.
Unless you are playing a Straight, the mix of numbers you select makes a big difference to your chances of winning and even the prize you can win. If you choose two identical numbers out of your three digits, for example 007 or 911, this is known as a 3-Way wager. If all three of your numbers are different, such as 123 or 789, this is a 6-Way wager.
The terms tell you how many ways your numbers can be arranged. For example, 007 can only be ordered 007, 070 or 700. With three different numbers, there are twice as many possible combinations – 123 can also be arranged 132, 213, 231, 312 or 321.
To win a prize, you must match the numbers as per the requirements of your play type. Go to the How to Win page to find examples of winning combinations for each style of play, and to see the associated payouts. You can also view the odds of winning.
